The Pterodactyloidea is the most diverse, speciose, and longest lasting of pterosaur groups, with a variety of forms known from the Middle Jurassic to the Late Cretaceous. Kryptodrakon represents one of the basal-most members of the group; a smallish pterosaur (with an adult wingspan of about 1.47 meters or 4.8 feet in length) with a preference for forested habitats and likely had a generalist diet of small vertebrates and invertebrates alike. It is known from the Oxfordian stage of the Late Jurassic Shishugou Formation, China.
